Environmental Graphics

Our process

We help shape and guide how people move through and make meaning of spaces.

Environmental graphics are often the clearest form of communication in a space—guiding movement, offering clarity, and helping people find their way (where's the bathroom?). But beyond function, they shape how a place feels and how it speaks.

They can mark a path, reveal a hidden story, or create moments of pause and delight. They give character to a space, help people orient themselves, and quietly build connection between people and place.

Working alongside architects, landscape architects, and fabricators, we design environmental graphics as an integrated part of the experience—not an afterthought. From large-scale wayfinding to the smallest details—material finishes, mounting methods, lighting interaction—we consider every layer to create systems that feel both intuitive and meaningful.

01
Discovery

We start with a 30,000-foot view: Why does this space exist, and how should it function? Asking questions, listening to all stakeholders, and understanding the context gives us a complete canvas for design.

02
Research & Mapping

We dig into what makes the project unique. By identifying storylines, impact zones, and user flows, we ensure the graphics are purposeful and enhance the space, rather than just decorate it.

03
Create Like Crazy

This is often our favorite part: making, iterating, and exploring a wide range of possibilities. Early explorations—good, bad, and ugly—inform the curated directions we bring to the table, ensuring each option is purposeful and ready to be shaped together.

04
Iterate, Refine, Finalize

Feedback is a close friend. Whether adjustments are aesthetic, functional, or budgetary, we refine until the design is both beautiful and practical. Iteration ensures the final solution fulfills the vision while honoring real-world constraints.

05
Get It Made

Good design in the built environment lives in the details—how pieces are built, fastened, and aligned. We closely collaborate with fabricators and installers at every step, creating construction document sets to make sure the project reflects the design intent and comes to life exactly as envisioned.
